Lavender & Green Carnation
at The Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts (JGCA)
January 18 - March 15, 2025
at the Jazz Gallery Center of the Arts (JGCA)
"Lavender & Green Carnation" is a group exhibition that explores the enduring power of queer symbols in times of political unrest. In 2025, as LGBTQ+ rights face renewed threats, we are reminded of the resilience of our community and the coded languages that have historically kept us safe—handkerchiefs, flowers, and quiet gestures of solidarity. This exhibition honors the lavender’s defiance and the green carnation’s subtle boldness, reflecting a moment when we may once again need such tools of connection. The artists presented here enrich our world through their queerness, reminding us of the importance of care, creativity, and community in uncertain times.
