In Betrayal of Flesh (I Was Vexed), collage becomes a private ritual for holding emotion before it turns into an outburst. I am interested in how different printed materials carry different kinds of desire. House and Garden magazines feel domestic to me; they point toward yearning, nesting, taste, intimacy, and the broader ambition of imagining a life or space shaped with care. In contrast, the hunting and fishing imagery I use elsewhere often feels closer to lust, pursuit, cruising, and the charged act of looking for something to take or be taken by. This work sits between those poles: wanting to be held and wanting to be wanted, feeling exposed and angry, turning a late-night rush of vexed emotion into a small spell of release.
